The Kakao Operation Policy defines criteria for services provided by Kakao and detailed rules that must be abided by customers in order to respond to problems that may arise during the operation of Kakao services with consistency. Please read through the Operation Policy to avoid disadvantages the user may experience if he/she does not abide by the Operation Policy.
Kakao will continuously exchange ideas with customers as part of our effort to establish a practical Operation Policy. Customer’s ideas will be applied to policies, and any modification of policies will be posted in the service notification at least seven (7) days prior to policy updates.

Customer’s Rights
Customers can make inquiries, requests and recommendations on services provided by Kakao through online Consultations.

Kakao will not intervene or try to resolve disputes that arise between customers or damages that arise due to negligence by the customer. However, if a customer experiences damages due to a different customer’s violation of the Operation Policy during use of the service, then the customer can report such incidents to Kakao and request application of the Operation Policy. If such cases arise, Kakao will review the submitted report and impose necessary restrictions.
If the customer is dissatisfied with results of the Operation Policy application, then he/she may submit an objection at any time, using justifiable methods, to Kakao through the Kakao homepage.
Customer’s Obligations
Customers must notify Kakao of any problems, including bugs or system errors, he/she finds while using the service, and must not transfer the problems to other customers or abuse the problems in any way. If a customer fails to report such problems, including bugs or system errors, to Kakao and tries to benefit from the use of such problems, then such actions will be deemed as an abuse of bugs and systems, which has a direct negative impact on the service as well as other customer, and customers who tries to abuse such problems will be restricted from using the service.
Customers may submit a subscription to use the service provided by Kakao. Customers must enter accurate information when subscribing. If false information, or personal information of other persons, is submitted, then the customer at fault will be restricted from use of the service and cannot asset protection of rights.
- Behavior that violates related laws and regulations cannot be used within the service.
- One-sided ridicule or damage to a specific nationality, race, religion, ethnicity, gender or disability will not be tolerated.
- Slander of a specific nationality, race, religion, ethnicity, gender or disability or antisocial, illegal group behavior is not allowed.
- False report related to other customers in the service is not allowed.
- Advertisement/promotional activities for commercial purposes are not allowed.
- Illegal software/hardware that may influence the service cannot be used.
- Explicit sexual contents or expressions that may discomfort other customers are not allowed.
- Tabooed words, including profanity, vulgarity and/or slangs cannot be used.
- Inflicting harm or confusion to other customers by impersonating company employees or administrators of the service, especially deceiving other customers or benefiting from such impersonations is not allowed.
- Other activities that surpass the common knowledge of the company or customer, or are not accepted by social norm, are not tolerated.

Restricted Postings
Postings with obscene contents
- Postings that show excessive nudity or pornographic activities
- Postings aimed at sharing information on prostitution
- Postings that include contents that causes others to feel sexual humiliation or discomfort
Postings that distribute malicious codes
- Postings that include programs that impede user’s service environment, including malicious codes or viruses.
- Postings that use such programs to interfere with Kakao’s work or asks uses to install or distribute such programs
Postings that violate intellectual property rights
- Postings that share other people’s creative works, including TV/radio programs, music sources, movies or cartoons, without approval from the creator
- Postings that provide information on how to acquire other people’s creations through illegal routes (Ex. Free downloads, free servers, CD key sharing)
- Postings that include contents that violate other people’s rights, including trademark rights and/or design rights.
- Postings that use other people’s postings (whole or partial), photos or images without permission
Postings with illegal contents
- Postings that promote illegal gambling websites
- Postings that sell or promote illegal products or products that is prohibited from being sold on the Internet
- Postings that contains information that motivate illegal activities or assist in executing such illegal activities
- Postings that include programs that impede user’s service environment, including malicious codes or viruses.
- Postings that use such programs to interfere with Kakao’s work or asks uses to install or distribute such programs
Others
- Abnormal postings that include repetitions or a specific work or sentence, or postings that are plastered with patterns of texts that are generated with programs
- Postings that contain contents that aim at mass-circulation, including chain letters, spam postings and promotional contents
- Postings that are used for purposes that go against Kakao service’s original purpose by exposing/encouraging exposure of other people’s personal information, by impersonating service administrators etc…
Restricting Unsuitable Postings
Restricting postings
- The administrator will block exposure of unsuitable postings so that it is not viewed by other visitors.
- The administrator will mark the blocked postings so that other visitors can identify the posting as one that has been blocked from view.
Restricting accounts
- Accounts of users who have repeatedly posted postings that are deemed to be unsuitable by the Operation Policy will be temporarily or permanently restricted from use.
If user’s actions do not correspond to the detailed situations stated above, but is deemed to have a negative influence on the providing and sustaining a healthy service environment, then use of the service may be restricted, in accordance to the company’s Terms and Conditions of Use, and the user may be faced with heavy punishment if such cases are repeated.
