Notice of Amendments to Kakao Account Terms and Conditions

Thank you for using Kakao Services.

 

Please be informed that Kakao Account Terms and Conditions will be amended as of Jan 9, 2023 to reflect the addition of provisions related to the digital card service.

Article 4. Definition of Terms

①The Terms herein shall be defined as follows:

1."Kakao Account" refers to the Company's Login Account Policy that allows users to manage with a single login account and password, verification of user identity, modification of his/her personal information, and sign-up and withdrawal for membership in the Individual Services provided by the Company or its Partners.

2."Member" refers to a person who uses Kakao Account, after having agreed to this Terms and Conditions in the Individual Services associated with Kakao Account or on the Kakao Account Website.

3."Partners" refer to any corporation that has entered into partnership with the Company to jointly provide Kakao Account. The list of Partners is published on the Kakao Corporation Website. In case of inclusion or modification of Partner information, such change shall be published on the Kakao Corporation Website.

4."Individual Service" refers to any accessible service via Kakao Account provided by the Company or Partners. Individual Service may be further added or modified, and such change shall be posted on the Kakao Corporation Website.

5."Kakao Account Website" refers to the Internet site where any Kakao member can check and/or modify his/her account information online.

6."Kakao Account Information" refers to any required or optional information set by the Company. Kakao Account Information means any member information that can be checked, modified and managed in the account settings page of Kakao Account Website or Individual Services.

7."Certificate" refers to electronic information that confirms and proves the fact that digital signature generation information issued through the Company's authentication service belongs to the relevant member only.

8."Digital signatures" refer to information in electronic form attached to or logically combined with an electronic document to verify the signer's identity and indicate that the signer has signed thereon.

9."Digital Signature Generation Information" refers to electronic information used to generate electronic signatures.

10."Certified Member" refers to a member whose digital signature generation information has been authenticated by the Company.

11."User Organization" refers to a third party that wishes to use authentication service for transactions or the like based on a certified member's digital signature and certificate.

11. In relation to the authentication service in Article 10, "User Organization" refers to a third party that wishes to use authentication service for transactions, etc. based on a certified member's digital signature and certificate. In relation to the Digital Card Service in Article 10-3, "User Organization" refers to a third party that is issued or confirms a digital card and use it for his or her work and business.


(New Provisions)

Article 10-3 (Digital Card Service) 

① The Company shall provide a service where the Company issues digital cards such as credentials, tickets, and items to a member's Kakao Account at the request of affiliated issuing organizations, including the Company, and lets the Member to use them such as submission to affiliated User Organizations (hereinafter referred to as "the Digital Card Service"). 

② The digital card may be issued upon the request of the Member, or automatically upon the request of an issuing organization if the Member has met certain conditions. Provided, that the Company may request consent to additional authentication or use during the process of digital card issuance, and may restrict overseas members or members of foreign nationals from issuing or using a digital card. 

③ The Company shall only include or indicate information provided by an affiliated issuing company in a digital card, and shall not verify the content of the digital card issued by an issuing organization or guarantee its legitimacy. 

④ A member's digital card information may be viewed or disclosed in services provided by the Company, an issuing organization or a User Organization. (The collective term for the issuing organization and the User Organization shall be "Partner Organization".) 

⑤ A digital card may be recalled or revised as required or requested by an issuing organization. A recalled digital card or information thereon may not be restored. 

⑥ A digital card has an expiration date set by an issuing organization. When the expiration date elapses, the Member may not use the features of the digital card or may face restrictions in using it including submission, subject to the policy of the Partner Organization. Also, places where the digital card can be used may be changed by the Partner Organization, and the Company does not guarantee its continuity or recognize its financial value except for its features. 

⑦ When the Member withdraws from Kakao Account, the digital card issued under the Kakao account will be deleted, and the same digital card may not be re-issued. 

⑧ The Member shall not engage in any of the following acts while using the Digital Card Service.

1. Using the service provided by the Company or the digital card by providing false information or stealing someone else's name and information.

2. Lending digital card information to a third party.

3. Using an invalid digital card for abnormal purposes.

4. Changing information posted by the Company without permission, or sending or posting information other than those set by the Company (computer programs, etc) in the service. 

5. Using the service or accessing the system in abnormal ways that are not set by the Company. 

6. Sending or receiving the digital card in abnormal ways that are not set by the Company. (E.g. Selling and buying digital cards, extortion through a transmission unagreed between users, transactions made through a method not notified normally, etc.) 

7. Others cases where the Member causes damage or is reasonably expected to cause damage to the Company, the Partner Organization, or other third parties by violating related laws, the Company's Terms of Service and Operation Policy. 

⑨ In relation to the use of the digital card, the Company shall not take any responsibility for the relationship between the Member, the issuing organization and the User Organization, and shall not be held liable for damages incurred to the Member due to reasons attributable to the issuing organization and the User Organization, unless there is a cause attributable to the Company. 

⑩ In addition to the contents set forth in this Article, details related to the Digital Card Service are subject to the digital card service operation policy, and the Company shall inform them to the Member through service notices and the Customer Center Help Page.




 

2. Effective Date

The amended Terms and Conditions will take effect on Jan 9, 2023.

 

 If you do not agree to the amendments, you may choose to unregister from each service or raise your objection through our Customer Service. If you don't express your objection before the effective date of the amended Terms and Conditions, you will be deemed to have agreed to them, and the amended Terms and Services will be applied to you.
