Kakao Youth Protection Policy

Kakao, as space available to all ages, has implemented youth protection policies as outlined in the Act on Promotion of Information and Communication Network Use and Information Protection to protect youth from harmful information and help them use the Internet safely.

Kakao will continue to strive to cultivate a clean and healthy Internet culture and to help youth grow into healthy personalities through proper information sharing activities.

1. Objectives and fundamental principles for youth protection

We strive to protect youth from mentally and physically harmful surroundings while creating beneficial environments, and thereby stipulate youth protection policies for the provision of safe Internet service.

2. Youth protection device

To prevent youth from being exposed to harmful information without any restraint, we have established, and applied authentication device filtering "Harmful to Teenagers," and continued to take precautionary steps that prevent detrimental information from spreading.

3. Counseling damage caused by harmful information and grievance settlement

We are endeavoring to stop the spread of damage due to procrastination and inept handling of remedy by assigning experts for counseling and handling grievances caused by harmful information.

4. Restricted youth access to and control measures against harmful information

From a general search to various services, we extensively control the range of prohibited words, illegal or harmful to teenagers. In the meantime, we systematically manage hazardous services requiring adult authentication by limiting the scope of use.

5. Education required to protect the youth from harmful information

We educate youth protection officers and service personnel on all the pertinent matters such as laws and regulations, sanctions, countermeasures against harmful information, and procedures for reporting offenses.

6. Strengthen youth protection by enhancing awareness among users

We, through the Terms of Service, inform that our users may be subject to a restriction of service use or civil or criminal liabilities if they promote unwholesome practices. With detrimental information newly detected, we promptly disseminate the news by notice or e-mail to protect youth and all users. Besides, we are striving to enhance the awareness of netiquette through multiple educations and campaigns on information healthiness.
